Brindabella Contractors have undertaken a range of projects for our designs, over many years. We have always been impressed with their attention to detail, timely performance and quality of work. In 2015 we were approached by a donor who wanted to develop a labyrinth in the Gallery of Gardens at the National Arboretum Canberra. We discussed the project with Phil, and determined that a sandblasted pattern into a concrete base would be durable and effective construction methodology. Phil prepared a number of concrete aggregate and oxide options for the donor to select from. The works were constructed in early 2017, and opened to the public in April 2017. The sandblasted pattern to the labyrinth is to our knowledge the first of its kind, certainly in Australia. Brindabella are always my first choice when it comes to selecting contractors in relation to landscaping design and construction in the Canberra region.Based on my experience over a number of projects managed by Brindabella over the last couple of years I now rely exclusively on their advice in defining the scope of works. We had a vision at Wonderschool, to provide children of all abilities and ages with the opportunity to explore, create, imagine, wonder, and take managed risks. We wanted a space which we did not have to pull out resources and equipment to set up and then pack away at the end of the day. We wanted nature to dictate the program and for children to have freedom and space to just be. We explored our ideas with Phil and shared our philosophy and approaches including the Nature Play movement and the children’s gardens funded by the Ian Potter Foundation. Phil and his team at Brindabella not only listened and shared their thoughts, they delivered with the look and quality. Needless to say we have received so many comments and compliments on our outdoor environment. The children are all learning, engaged, safe, happy and have fun every day. On behalf of Wombats Playschool I would like to write a testimony for Brindabella Contractors. After seeking several quotes to upgrade our Preschool Playground we decided to go with Phil and the team at Brindabella Contractors. This was due to many factors including price, professionalism and Phil seemed to understand exactly what we wanted and our philosophy of our future outdoor environment. We liasoned with Phil about what we wanted for the playground and Phil gave us great feedback on what would work and also what would follow the government guidelines for children’s playgrounds as we has his qualifications to certify such spaces. Phil drew up a plan and once the budget and plan were approved and Phil helped to speak to our Committee as well as ACT Property Group who own our property, we began to speak about starting dates. Once a date was set, work began promptly and was professionally carried out by Phil and his amazing team of workers, which engaged with our children and made the whole experience unforgettable for all. The job was totally completed in 3 weeks and the site was left perfectly and handed over to us. We are thrilled with our new playground and the way our children are engaging with it is exactly what we were hoping for. Big thanks to Phil and his team for transforming our playground to an incredible outdoor wonderland with nature playing a huge role. We have creek beds, balancing logs, stepping stones, sensory plants and over 8 different textures for children to walk on, we have challenges for them and an amazing mud kitchen to play in. am happy to speak to anyone who is thinking of using Brindabella Contractors and if they would like to inspect the standard of work they are welcome to come and visit us and see it first hand. A design on paper is only as great as the construction team that builds the vision. Working with Phil and the team at Brindabella Contractors resulted in exemplary workmanship and attention to detail that brought to life the inner details and vision for Woden Early Childhood Centre’s nature play space. Communication and respect for each other’s crafts was evident throughout the build process. This professionalism allowed for fluidity and flexibility when decisions needed to be made on areas that required changes or fine adjustments to ensure an aesthetic, but safe outcome.
